Each month, the Missions Committee highlights a program or ministry that we support to provide education to the congregation.  During 2020, these programs include but are not limited to:

January– WARM: Waynesboro Area Refuge Ministry provides support, temporary shelter and community development for homeless adults and families in the Waynesboro/Augusta County area through a winter rotating shelter for adults and transitional housing facility for women and children. 

February-Suicide Prevention Awareness:  Mental Health America of Augusta County provides ongoing awareness and educational programming including SafeTALK-training inidviduals to identify persons considering suicide and get them to appropriate services.

March-Mexico Missions: For 18 years FUMC has sponsored a mission team to go to Casa Hogar to provide construction help, much needed clothing and school supplies and God’s love through ministry with the children and adults.

April- FUMC Child Development Center:  Financial Aid to support families in need whose children attend our Center

May-Camp Overlook Scholarships- supporting our younger members who want to have a United Methodist summer camp experience.

June-Vacation Bible School at Fishersville UMC

July-Bates Foundation: founded by our former pastor, Dr. Charles Bates, the foundation seeks to strengthen individuals, families and the Liberian community by championing mental health and spiritual development through prevention, education, counseling and advocacy.

August-The Secret Boutique: With a goal of eliminating bullying, gently used clothing and other items are provided in a discreet location to students in need.

September-Casa de Amistad: Educational program focused on Hispanic students in Augusta County area dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in a multicultural community through education and skill building.

October
-The Food Pantry:  FUMC stocks and operates a food pantry utilized by area families in need.

November– Operation Christmas Child/Shoebox Ministries:  Sending God’s love to children around the world through the packing and delivery of shoeboxes containing needed items and treats at Christmas.

December– Christmas families: Responding to families in need in the community and through our partnership with the local school system.
